Bayern Munich has done a lot of work in the last 12 months to build a squad that can help them to challenge on all fronts in the present and future. The Bavarian club has managed to complete five deals in key positions this summer. Even though Robert Lewandowski and Niklas Sule have left the club, the squad has been considerably strengthened in the transfer market.
Along with signing new players, Bayern has also worked hard on securing the future of key players in the last 12 months. Serge Gnabry was the latest high-profile player to sign a new deal at Die Roten to end speculation around his future.
The biggest success for Die Roten in terms of contract negotiations was the renewal of Kingsley Coman. The French forward looked certain to leave Bavaria this summer after talks had reached an impasse at the end of the 2020/21 season. Coman was consistently linked with numerous clubs as he had entered the penultimate year of his last deal.
A strong Hinrunde and admiration for the coaching of Julian Nagelsmann helped Bayern to bring Coman back on the table for contract negotiations. The French winger eventually agreed to sign a new deal in January 2022. He has committed the best years of his career to Bayern as his new deal expires in 2027. While talking to Daily Mail last week, Coman insisted that he is targeting more Champions League titles with Bayern after signing a renewal earlier this year.
"“I want to win more Champions Leagues with Bayern.”“I want to win the World Cup because I missed it, so I want something with the national team.”"
Kingsley Coman had played a significant role in Bayern’s last Champions League victory. The French winger scored the winner against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final during the 2019/20 campaign. Coman was one of the best players for Die Roten throughout that treble-winning season.
After a few years of frustration due to injuries, Coman has found consistency in performances during the last three seasons. He has become one of the key players in the final third for Rekordmeister. The French international has been reportedly added to the leadership group of the senior squad.
Kingsley Coman provides a lot of tactical flexibility to Nagelsmann since he can play on both flanks. He will have a big role to play if Bayern plans to bring the Champions League trophy back to Allianz Arena. Apart from his target to win the prestigious European trophy again with Die Roten, Coman is also eyeing the Ballon d’Or award in the near future.

The current season is probably the biggest one in Coman’s career. With the World Cup beginning in November, Coman is eyeing glory with club and country this season. The 26-year-old winger will be looking to stay fit and perform exceptionally for Die Roten in the coming months to cement his place in the French squad.
