The majority of the transfer business for Bayern Munich has been concluded before the start of the season. The five new arrivals featured for Die Roten in the thumping win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the first gameweek of the new Bundesliga campaign on Friday.
The remainder of the transfer window will likely see Bayern moving on fringe players. It does look like Benjamin Pavard will not be on the list of departures despite being heavily linked with a move away from Bavaria in the past few weeks.
According to Sport1, Bayern is keen on keeping Benjamin Pavard for next season. However, the decision will still depend on the player. As things stand, Julian Nagelsmann will get his wish of keeping Pavard in the squad, and the French defender is leaning towards staying in Bavaria for at least one more season.
The speculation around the future of Benjamin Pavard began after Die Roten started negotiations with Juventus to sign Matthijs de Ligt. It was previously expected that Pavard would play regularly in the heart of defense next season, but de Ligt’s arrival will make it difficult for him to play in his preferred position.
Chelsea, Manchester United, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid were linked with a move for Pavard. The London-based club was the most likely destination as they are actively looking to sign a center-back this summer. However, Chelsea’s attempts to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City in the last few days suggest that Pavard may not be a priority target for them.
Benjamin Pavard started against RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt in the right-back position. He delivered two solid performances and looks to be the first choice right-back. Noussair Mazraoui may have to wait for getting a first competitive start in the right-back role after Pavard’s good start to the season.
Considering the cramped scheduling for next season, Bayern needs depth in all areas. It makes sense to keep hold of Pavard since he has been a reliable performer for Die Roten in the past three seasons. Moreover, he will get even better with healthy competition in the right-back position.

The two departures in the defensive area of the squad are likely to be Tanguy Nianzou and Bouna Sarr. Nianzou will mostly go out on loan to get regular playing time. The German Champions rate him highly, so a loan move will serve well for all parties. Meanwhile, Die Roten is eager to listen to offers for Sarr since he is not in the plans of Nagelsmann, and there is ample amount of depth in the right-back position.
