Bayern Munich opened the 2022/23 Bundesliga season being hosted by Eintracht Frankfurt; a season opener that did not disappoint. Starting off the season with a bang, Bayern netted six goals from five different goal scorers. A day to remember for the Bavarian faithful. Here are the three players that made this win possible on Friday.

Benjamin Pavard

Even though there are question marks over his future, Benjamin Pavard continues to enjoy a good start to the season. After a disappointing end of last season for Bayern’s defense, the backline started this season off hot, led by Pavard himself. A game in which he was not beaten in duels especially while coming up against a skillful Filip Kostic, is very impressive.

Not only did Pavard put in a class defensive performance, but he also found the back of the net for the game’s second goal. He found himself in a very good position from a set-piece to take a powerful shot and double his team’s lead. Overall, top performance from the French international.

Thomas Muller

There is a very good reason why Thomas Muller has earned the name “Assist King”. Muller picked up exactly where he left off last season. In this season opener, Muller managed to seal two assists on the day, the first of which was in an extremely unselfish manner. When he easily could’ve taken a shot himself, Muller tapped the ball across the face of the goal for the youngster Musiala to finish it off.

Oddly enough, Muller wasn’t even playing in his standard attacking midfield role. He was playing on the right wing, the position he spent most of his time under Pep Guardiola. This change of scenery allowed Muller to supply ball after ball to the two forwards. With no signs of slowing down, Thomas Muller has an exciting season ahead of him.

Jamal Musiala

Two words come to mind when thinking of Jamal Musiala’s performance against Frankurt on Friday: World Class. From being a powerhouse up the left side to scoring goals, Musiala had an incredible match. He is the one player that continues to make a strong case for being a regular member of the starting XI. With this run of form, Musiala can grow to become a very dangerous and decisive player for Bayern this season.

Next. Bayern will not sign a left-back this summer. dark

Even though there were six goals scored today, Musiala was the only one to grab himself two. At the young age of 19, his breakout season is only imminent. Everything that Jamal Musiala touched on the field rightfully earns him the Man of the Match for Bayern’s first game of the season. Musiala will look to continue his good form when Bayern faces Wolfsburg next weekend.
