Bayern Munich: Three things to watch out in BL Matchday One
Flowing attacking football
While things were far from perfect at the back, Bayern looked scintillating in the final third. The German Champions were pressing brilliantly in the final third to force Leipzig into committing mistakes. They successfully managed to stop Leipzig from playing out from the back in the first half.
Nagelsmann had particularly insisted at the end of the season that Bayern needs to get better at counter-pressing. The early signs this season have been promising as Die Roten hunted down Leipzig to win the ball quickly.
Apart from executing good press in the final third, Bayern forwards also showed great efficiency in the final third. Scoring five goals against one of the possible contenders for the Bundesliga is a great statement of intent from Bayern. Sadio Mane has also hit the ground running by scoring against Leipzig.

There are a lot of question marks about how Die Roten will replace Lewandowski’s goals, but the fluid performance of the attack last weekend bodes well for the future. Bayern and Nagelsmann should make sure that the performance against Leipzig becomes a norm as the season progresses. A solid performance from the attack away at Frankfurt will be a good start to the long Bundesliga campaign.
