After enjoying a very productive transfer window until now, Bayern Munich also started the new season in the best possible way. The Bavarian Champions managed to win the DFL Supercup against RB Leipzig with a thrilling 5-3 win last Saturday.

The first-half performance from Die Roten was terrific against Leipzig as they managed to mount pressure on the hosts by scoring three goals. The counter-pressing from Rekordmeister was spot on as they managed to pounce on mistakes from Leipzig.

Even though Leipzig mounted a strong challenge in the second half, Bayern did more than enough in the final third and midfield to clinch the victory. Nagelsmann is set to reward the players for their performances by sticking with the same system against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga opener later this week.

According to Kicker (via iMiaSanMia), Nagelsmann will be using the same lineup against Frankfurt on Friday. The German coach is set to stick with the same composition with the midfield after Marcel Sabitzer delivered a quality performance with Joshua Kimmich against Leipzig.

Nagelsmann’s decision to stick with the same lineup should be a big confidence booster for Jamal Musiala and Sabitzer. The Austrian midfielder struggled for form and game time in his debut season, so he needed to start his second season strongly. In the absence of Leon Goretzka, Sabitzer has grabbed this opportunity with both hands.

Meanwhile, Musiala has been in and out of the team during last season. He continued to show great improvement last season, but the German attacking midfielder would like to get even more playing time this year. He delivered a solid performance against Leipzig, which has strengthened the case for an extended run in the team for him.

Nagelsmann will be hoping for similar consistency from midfield and attack in the Bundesliga opener. Meanwhile, the defense will have to fare much better than they did against Leipzig. The German coach and Manuel Neuer would ideally like to start the season with a clean sheet and set the tone for the campaign.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has started running on the pitch, but he is unlikely to be fit for the game against Frankfurt on Friday.
