How Bayern fair in first competitive game after the departure of Robert Lewandowski?

The game against Leipzig on Saturday will also mark the start of a new era at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club will be without their prolific goal scorer of the last eight seasons as Robert Lewandowski sealed a move to FC Barcelona two weeks ago.

Die Roten has not tried to sign a direct replacement for the Polish striker. Mathys Tel will lead the line in a few games, while the likes of Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mane can play upfront. Going by the comments from Nagelsmann in the pre-match press conference on Friday, Mane is in line to start upfront against Leipzig on Saturday.

The absence of a traditional number nine gives Die Roten to field a very fluid front three. The German Champions have some incredible talent in the attack, so it will be intriguing to see how Nagelsmann manages to get the most out of them. The attacking patterns against Leipzig will indicate how the German coach plans to use his attack next season.

Despite losing a world-class talent like Lewandowski, Bayern still has a lot of reasons to be excited about the attack for next season. A good start to the campaign with a solid performance from the attacking unit on Saturday will set the tone and template for Nagelsmann next season.
