System used by Julian Nagelsmann

Nagelsmann had very little time last season to work with the senior players during pre-season due to international tournaments. However, things have been different this summer as the German coach significant time on the training ground with all players.

With the departure of Robert Lewandowski, Bayern is expected to be much more fluid in the final third. Moreover, there have been reports in Germany suggesting that Die Roten could use two formations- 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 during the next campaign. It will be intriguing to see what system will be used by the German coach against his former club on Saturday.

At the end of last season, Nagelsmann insisted that Bayern needs to improve counter-pressing to dominate games and compete on all fronts. He was expected to work on this aspect during the pre-season training. The game against Leipzig will provide a good test for the team and judge the degree of improvement in their counter-pressing.

Die Roten struggled defensively during Ruckrunde, conceding poor goals at an alarming rate. It will be interesting to see how Nagelsmann has tried to fix this problem in the squad. The performance against Leipzig will be a teaser for what kind of performances we should be expecting from Bayern next season.
