The current summer transfer window will not see Bayern Munich scampering for players before deadline day. The Bavarian club has been aggressive in getting all targets early to make sure they have pre-season to integrate into the squad.

Die Roten confirmed the latest transfer on Tuesday by signing Mathys Tel from Rennes. The 17-year-old forward is the fifth signing of the summer. He is expected to be part of the first team next season. The French forward will help in filling the void left by Robert Lewandowski to a certain extent.

Ahead of the DFL Supercup this weekend, Bayern is looking to seal the sixth and final transfer of the summer. The German Champions want to strengthen the midfield department by signing Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig. The latest update from Germany suggests that a breakthrough in negotiations for Laimer could be found sooner rather than later.

According to Sky Sports, Bayern is confident about reaching an agreement with Leipzig for Laimer by the end of this week. The German Champions already had two bids rejected for the Austrian midfielder since Leipzig will not be entertaining offers below €30 million.

Die Roten has already agreed personal terms with Laimer. He reportedly prefers a move to Bavaria over other possible destinations. Leipzig is reluctant to sell another player to Bayern, but they will be left with no choice if the Bavarian club meets their evaluation.

The next few days will decide the fate of this transfer. Die Roten would have allowed it to drag until the end of the window since Laimer has less than 12 months left on his current deal at Leipzig. However, the knee injury to Leon Goretzka may have altered their approach. Bringing Laimer to the club as soon as possible would be much better for all parties.

Laimer’s versatility will provide Nagelsmann with a lot of tactical flexibility next season. He can also provide much-needed cover for Joshua Kimmich in the center of the park. Moreover, Laimer is used to Nagelsmann’s methods as the pair worked at Leipzig for two years. Considering the congested schedule for next season, a move for Laimer makes a lot of sense for Rekordmeister.
