There have been significant developments in terms of transfers at Bayern Munich this week. The German Champions reached an agreement with Barcelona on Friday for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker is on his way to the USA to meet up with his new teammates at Barcelona.

It is a high-profile departure at Die Roten since Lewandowski has been consistently scoring 40+ goals in the seven seasons. The German Champions will have to find a way to fill the void left by the Polish striker. It remains to be seen whether Bayern will dip into the market to find a replacement for him.

The coming weeks will see Rekordmeister linked with several strikers. Despite the arrival of Sadio Mane, they may need another forward to bolster the attack. One thing is certain – Bayern will not be making a move for Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo to replace Lewandowski.

While talking to Sport1, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed that there are no plans to approach Manchester United for the signing of Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward wants to leave the Red Devils this summer since they will not be playing in the Champions League next season.

"“I have a lot of respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, his successes and his career. But once again: that was and is not a topic for us.”"

The club CEO Oliver Kahn and head coach Julian Nagelsmann also praised Ronaldo but ruled out a move for him. Earlier this window, it was reported that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has sounded out to Die Roten regarding a summer move.

Signing Ronaldo is a big gamble, both from sporting and financial gamble for Die Roten. The Portuguese forward is one of the best-paid footballers in the world, so his arrival may shatter Rekordmeister’s wage structure. The Bavarian club follows a strict wage structure, so the Portuguese wouldn’t have fit into it unless he took a big pay cut.

Despite being a terrific goalscorer, Ronaldo often hampers the collective attacking output of teams. Moreover, he is not great at pressing, which will not fit into Nagelsmann’s style of play. There are significant red flags in this transfer, so it is the right decision for Die Roten to steer clear of this move.

As things stand, Bayern is currently working on a deal to sign Rennes forward Mattys Tel. The young French striker is expected to be part of the senior team if a deal is struck with Rennes. Moreover, Rekordmeister is also focussing on midfield and defense by signing Konrad Laimer and Matthijs de Ligt, respectively.
