Bayern Munich: Four versatile players in current squad
Kingsley Coman
Positions- Right-wing, Left-wing, and wing-back
Bayern Munich got themselves a bargain in Kingsley Coman when they agreed to an initial loan deal with Juventus in 2014. At the time, Coman was regarded as one of the highly rated young attackers in European football due to his speed and technical ability.
After impressing under Pep Guardiola as a winger, Coman found himself in a frustrating loop of injuries. The French international missed many games due to different muscle injuries. At one point, it was also suggested that Coman considered retirement due to various injury setbacks. Eventually, things changed, and Coman managed to get out of this injury rut and show his talent in the last few seasons.
Coman thrives on either flank. His trickery and pace help him to beat defenders with ease. Multiple Bayern coaches have used him on both flanks, while Julian Nagelsmann used him as a wing-back in a few games last season. He also excelled in the wing-back role for France in a few games, further highlighting his versatility in wide positions.

The past three years have seen Coman playing frequently and developing into a productive forward after years of frustration due to injuries. The French winger went down in the club’s history by scoring against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final 2019/20. Bayern Munich managed to convince him to sign a long-term contract at the start of 2022. As he enters the peak of his career, Coman will continue to show more aspects of his versatility in the final third.
