Joshua Kimmich
Positions- Central midfield, Defensive midfield, Center-back, Right-back
Kimmich is probably the most versatile player on this list and current senior squad at Bayern Munich. The German midfielder arrived in Bavaria when Pep Guardiola was the head coach. He excelled in the center-back position under the Spanish manager. Kimmich showed great awareness to read the game in the center-back role and delivered several impressive performances.
Under the coaching of Carlo Ancelotti, Kimmich was used in the right-back position. He excelled in this position after the retirement of Philipp Lahm. Kimmich was an assist machine from this role as he provided a cutting edge in the final third with his pinpoint crossing.
Kimmich always insisted that midfield is his preferred position. He eventually got his wish when Die Roten signed Benjamin Pavard from Stuttgart in 2019. Kimmich has consistently played in central midfield as an eight or six during the last three seasons. He helps Die Roten dictate the tempo of the game and deliveries quality crosses from set pieces.
The German international can perform in two areas of the pitch at a very high level. Considering his ability to pick defense-splitting passes, he may also thrive in the number ten role. Kimmich will eventually lead the team as he has committed his long-term future by signing a new deal last year.
