Bayern Munich has been very aggressive in the current transfer window. The German Champions have already added three players to the squad, but that could be only half of the business for the club this summer. Bayern Munich could end up making three more big signings before the end of the transfer window.

The midfield department has been bolstered by the signing of Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax. The Dutch midfielder will replace Marc Roca in the senior squad. The Spanish midfielder has sealed a permanent move to Leeds United. Corentin Tolisso has also left Bavaria on a free transfer to re-join Lyon.

After the signing of Gravenberch, Rekordmeister remains open to adding one more midfielder to the squad. The Bavarian club has identified RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer as the second midfield signing of the summer. However, it does look like the deal to bring Laimer is facing significant hurdles.

Reports in Germany have previously suggested that Leipzig is not interested in selling Laimer to Bayern this summer. While talking to SportBild (via Spox), Leipzig’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff admitted that the chances of Laimer staying are much bigger than him joining Die Roten. He also insisted that Leipzig wants to avoid strengthening Bayern this summer by sanctioning Laimer’s transfer.

"“We discussed internally what would have to happen for us to consider selling him. But you can assume that the probability of Laimer playing for us in the coming season is significantly higher than the probability of him playing elsewhere.”"

Sport1 also reported on Wednesday that Laimer’s move to Bayern faces significant hurdles. The Bundesliga Champions are in no mood to pay a big fee for the Austrian midfielder since he has entered the final year of his contract at Leipzig.

Die Roten does have an agreement with Laimer, so they are not worried about another club making a move for him. The German Champions could also end up signing him on a free transfer next summer. As things stand, any movement on this transfer is unlikely to take place in the coming weeks.

Laimer will most likely provide cover for Joshua Kimmich. The German midfielder is the only natural number six in the squad. Considering the gruesome schedule of next season, Bayern needs a strong deputy for Kimmich. Laimer may settle down at Bayern quickly since he has already worked with Julian Nagelsmann at Leipzig.

A move for Laimer could be completed at the end of the window. For now, the German Champions are focusing on the signing of Mathijs de Ligt from Juventus. The Dutch defender could end up becoming the most expensive player in Die Roten’s history. Apart from de Ligt,  Bayern is also working on a deal to sign young striker Mathys Tel from Rennes.
