The pre-season is set to begin for Bayern Munich next week. Players that were not involved in the international break during June have already reported for tests at Sabner Strasse. The other senior players will report later next week before the squad flies out to the USA for the first pre-season tour in three years.

Before moving on to the new campaign, let’s look back at the last season. Julian Nagelsmann managed to keep Die Roten a force to reckon in the Bundesliga as they successfully retained the league title. It was a historic Bundesliga win as Die Roten made it tenth consecutive title win.

While the success in the Bundesliga continued, Bayern didn’t falter in the cup competitions. They were knocked out early in the DFB Pokal, courtesy of a shock 5-0 defeat away at Borussia Monchengladbach in the second round. Meanwhile, the Champions League campaign ended for Die Roten with a defeat in the quarter-final against Villarreal.

It was a season full of ups and downs for Bayern. Julian Nagelsmann will be pleased with winning his first Bundesliga title, but he will be eyeing much more improvement in the team’s performances next season. Before we start focussing on next season, our writers give their memorable and individual performers and performances of last season.
