The biggest deal of the summer for Bayern Munich was completed last week. The Bavarian club sealed the signing of Sadio Mane from Liverpool. The Senegalese winger signed a three-year deal after enjoying six successful years at Merseyside.

Mane was identified as the prime attacking target for Die Roten at the start of the summer transfer window. Bayern had two bids rejected for the 30-year-old forward before a final agreement was reached between the club when the third bid was made. The Bavarian club is set to pay €40 million if all bonuses are met. The upfront fee for the forward is €32 million.

Die Roten moved swiftly to seal the deal and avoid a bidding war with other clubs. Paris Saint-German reportedly tried to get Mane in the 11th hour, but the winger had already promised Rekordmeister that he would be moving to Bavaria.

This is not the first time Bayern has tried to sign Mane to bolster the attack. While talking to SportBild, Mane admitted that there was contact with the Bavarian club in the past. The Senegalese forward also insisted that he was impressed straight away with the project presented by Julian Nagelsmann and Bayern chiefs.

"“It’s true there was contact between Bayern and my agent in the past. Bayern has always fascinated me. I followed the club since I was in Salzburg, but a move never happened before.”“My agent told me about Bayern’s interest several weeks ago. Hasan Salihamidžić, Julian Nagelsmann, and Marco Neppe came to my house in Liverpool and presented their project. I was immediately impressed and said on the same day that I wanted to move to Bayern.”"

Mane’s versatility will be a big asset to Bayern next season. The 30-year-old forward can play anywhere across the attack, giving Julian Nagelsmann a lot of tactical flexibility. Mane also has the knack for scoring goals in big games, a quality that will help Die Roten in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

Along with his quality on the pitch, Mane will also be a pivotal member of the team. The Senegalese forward won every possible trophy with Liverpool in the last six seasons. He has a winning mentality, which will definitely have a positive impact on the younger players in the squad.

Mane will be arriving in Bavaria next week as all first-team players report for training at Sabner Strasse before flying out to the USA for the pre-season tour. Die Roten has done a phenomenal job to get this deal over the line before the pre-season, as it allows smooth integration of Mane into the squad.

Sadio Mane may not be the only forward arriving in Bavaria this summer. Die Roten may have to add another forward to the squad before the end of the transfer window. Robert Lewandowski is agitating for a move away from Bayern, so the German club will need to find a solid replacement for him.
