Bayern Munich: Lothar Matthaus backs Sadio Mane to succeed in Bavaria
One of the biggest transfers of the summer is set to be completed on Tuesday. Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is set to arrive at Bayern Munich to sign a three-year deal. The Senegalese forward will be the biggest signing for the German Champions this summer.
Bayern and Liverpool finally found a breakthrough in negotiations for Mane last week. The German club will be paying an initial €32 million for the winger. The fee could rise to €40 million when the performance and appearance-related bonuses are achieved in the future.
Die Roten had two bids rejected for Mane as Liverpool was looking for a significant fee for a player entering the final year of the contract. However, the German club eventually managed to reach a number that satisfied all parties. Mane will be leaving Liverpool after winning every possible trophy in English football during the last six seasons.
Mane’s arrival will add more cutting edge to the Bavarian attack. While talking to Sky Sports, Lothar Matthaus heaped praise on Bayern for completing this significant transfer. Matthaus is impressed by the qualities of Mane and backs him to be a big player for Die Roten.
"“The signing of Sadio Mane is fantastic – not just for FC Bayern, but for the entire Bundesliga. The fact that such a great footballer will play in our league is just class.”“Mane is an exceptional player and a difference-maker. He has provided goals and assists with Liverpool in a way and with a regularity that few other players in the world have been able to match in recent years.”"
Mane has been one of the most lethal wide players in Europe over the last few seasons. In his six seasons at Liverpool, he managed to score 120 goals across all competitions. The Senegalese also has the knack for scoring in big games. Die Roten will have a very potent forward for the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
From a tactical point of view, Mane is every coach’s dream forward player. He can play on either flank with good effect. In the second half of last season, Jurgen Klopp also used him as a number nine. The Senegalese repaid the faith of Klopp in this new role by scoring crucial goals for Liverpool as they chased an unprecedented quadruple.
At Bayern, Nagelsmann is likely to use Sadio Mane on the left flank. His arrival will increase competition for places in the wide areas. This transfer will help in adding more goals from the wide position and also raise the bar for other wingers at the club.

Die Roten has managed to get a world-class player for a good transfer fee and also concluded the deal well before the start of pre-season. Sadio Mane will get time to adapt to the new surroundings and teammates during the pre-season tour in July.
