Bayern Munich: Sadio Mane decides to part ways with Liverpool
The Champions League final on Saturday between Liverpool and Real Madrid brought curtains down on the season in Europe. The transfer window will be in full flow now as clubs look to address key positions in their squad. Bayern Munich also had to wait for the Champions League final to go ahead with talks for signing their prime transfer target.
Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has emerged as the top transfer target for Bayern to bolster the attacking department this summer. Until Saturday, the majority of noise regarding Sane’s move to Bavaria was coming from Germany and France. However, there have been much more positive developments on Sunday after the end of the season for Liverpool.
According to The Athletic UK, Mane has decided to leave Liverpool this summer. The Senegalese forward will soon tell Liverpool about his desire to leave. The English media outlet insists that Bayern Munich is one of the suitors for Mane, but he is yet to make a final decision regarding his destination. Athletic believes that Liverpool will command a significantly higher fee than the €30 million bid reported in Germany and France.
Earlier this week, Mane had insisted that he would give an update on his future after the Champions League final. The Senegalese forward didn’t speak to the media on Sunday, and it will be a big surprise if he does on Sunday after the devastating defeat for the Merseyside club.
The other big media outlets in the UK have also confirmed that Mane wants to leave Merseyside. Meanwhile, Sport1 has provided a promising update on Bayern’s pursuit to sign the Senegalese forward. The latest update insists that Bayern is set to open negotiations with Liverpool in the coming days after getting the final nod from Mane. Sky Sports in Germany is also expecting talks to accelerate to complete Mane’s transfer in the coming days.
Sadio Mane is unlikely to cost a lot of money due to his contract situation at Liverpool. The Senegalese forward has entered the final 12 months of his current deal at the Merseyside club. Die Roten will be looking to negotiate a similar deal as Liverpool did with them for signing Thiago Alcantara two years ago.

Mane will be a quality signing for Die Roten. He has been one of the most impressive forwards in Europe for the past few seasons. The only downside of this signing is that Mane will turn 31 next year, which will make him a short-term signing. He is considered one of the signings for Bayern to replace departing Robert Lewandowski. The Bavarian club will be looking to seal this transfer in the coming weeks so that Mane will be spending pre-season with his new teammates.
