The Bavarian side boasted one of the world’s best full-backs in Philipp Lahm. The former German international was impressive for the club for more than a decade with his impressive performance. Die Roten has however managed to unearth another high-quality full-back in Alphonso Davies during the last couple of seasons.

Davies was signed by Die Roten from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018. He arrived at the Bavarian club in 2019. The youngster was expected to play as a winger, but the Bavarian club’s coaching staff had some other plans for him, and eventually, he became a left-back. A part of Hansi Flick’s sextuple Bayern squad, the 21- year old Canadian International has numerous accolades to his name in a very short time.

The Canadian has already won four Bundesliga titles, two DFB Pokal, FIFA Club World Cup, and many more trophies for the club in the last three years. He also became the first Canadian to ever win the UEFA Champions League.  The young full-back won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award in the 2019-20 season and was also a part of FIFA FIFPro World 11 in 2020.

Alphonso Davies has all the qualities of a modern full-back and is considered to be one of the best signings of Bayern Munich. He can make a difference in the final third due to his amazing dribbling ability. His incredible pace and ever-improving defensive awareness make him a solid defender. By polishing the rough edges of his game, Davies can remain a top player at Bayern for the next decade.
