The Bundesliga clubs have started thinking about transfer plans for next season as the current campaign comes to an end this weekend. Bayern Munich is likely to be busy in the transfer window, with multiple arrivals and departures expected in Bavaria.

The biggest problem for Bayern in the upcoming window will be handling the situation of Robert Lewandowski. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Lewandowski has told Bayern officials that he will not be extending his contract with the club. The Polish striker is eager to seal a transfer away from the club in the summer.

The German media outlet also insisted that Bayern was not ruling out his departure. Previously, Hasan Salihamidzic had admitted that the Polish striker would not leave Bavaria even if he didn’t sign a new deal. It does look like there has been a shift in the club’s stance regarding the star striker’s future.

Lewandowski’s future has been up in the air for the majority of Ruckrunde. The Bavarian club has been deliberating over offering him a new deal, which has probably frustrated the forward.  He was reportedly waiting for a new contract since the start of the season.

A recent report in Germany also suggested that Die Roten was working hard to secure the signing of Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker ended up signing for Manchester City, which probably scuppered the club’s plans to replace Lewandowski with a world-class striker. The club’s pursuit of signing the Norwegian may also have frustrated the Poland international.

The Bavarian club is yet to offer a new deal to the Polish. With Robert Lewandowski making up his mind, it is looking likely that he will be able to seal a departure in the summer. The Polish striker is eyeing a move to FC Barcelona. The Spanish club has already held talks with Pini Zahavi to put the groundwork for a possible transfer.

Replacing Robert Lewandowski will be the biggest challenge for Hasan Salihamidzic this summer. The market for strikers is very inflated, and there is no direct replacement for the quality of Lewandowski. The Polish striker has been the best striker in the world for the past three seasons, scoring over 40 goals per season.

Bayern will be better off keeping Lewandowski for a season and getting a young striker this summer. The young forward can be slowly developed to eventually replace the Polish striker at the end of next season. Lewandowski is determined to get a move away from the club, but this saga is unlikely to be resolved soon.
