After struggling to address the right-back position in the last two summer transfer windows, Bayern Munich is working on signing a right-back even before the season has come to an end. The Bavarian club has identified Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui as the candidate to improve this position.

Die Roten doesn’t have to negotiate with Ajax since Mazraoui’s contract comes to an end in June. In the past month or so, several reports in the Netherlands and Germany have confirmed that Mazraoui is keen on moving to Bavaria. The German club had managed to beat the competition from FC Barcelona to clinch the signing. Die Roten is yet to formally announce his signing.

In the past few days, Manchester United has been linked with Mazraoui. According to Daily Mirror, Man United is interested in Mazraoui, but the English club believes that efforts to sign him may be futile since he has made up his mind to join Die Roten. Mazraoui can team up with his current Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag at United next season as the Dutch coach has already been confirmed as the English club’s next head coach.

The interest from the Red Devils in Mazraoui has also been reported by the German media. According to TZ, United is interested in the Moroccan right-back, but Bayern has a verbal agreement with the player for a summer transfer. The German Champions are eager to complete the written agreement to avoid other clubs from hijacking the deal.

Bayern had put in a tremendous amount of effort to reach an agreement with Mazraoui. At one point, several reports suggested that the Moroccan right-back had set his heart on the move to Barcelona. The Bavarian club will be hoping that no other club hijacks this move just like they did to beat Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano (via iMiaSanMia) has reported that the deal to bring Mazraoui may take some time since his agent Mino Raiola passed away during the weekend. Since the season is coming to an end in the next couple of weeks, this transfer saga is close to completion one way or the other for Die Roten.

In the right-back position, Die Roten also has to work on departures. Bouna Sarr is expected to leave the club on a permanent deal in the summer. The Bavarian club also needs to decide the next step for Josip Stanisic. The young defender could go out on loan next season to get regular playing time. Bayern will be hoping for swift completion of the deal for Mazraoui before sanctioning the departures of Sarr and Stanisic.
