Bayern Munich continued their dominance in Germany as they clinched a record tenth consecutive Bundesliga title last week. The title win was even sweeter as it was confirmed after beating Borussia Dortmund at Allianz Arena. The Bavarian club still has to play three more league games before the season comes to an end. The first of these three games is an away trip to Mainz.

Julian Nagelsmann admitted last week that fringe and young players in the squad would get game time in the remaining three league games of the season. Let us look at the possible starting XI for Saturday’s trip to Mainz. Before we proceed with the predicted lineup, let us look at team news for matchday 32.

Team News-

In the pre-match press conference on Friday, Nagelsmann confirmed that Thomas Muller would be missing the game against Mainz due to illness. Kingsley Coman and Dayot Upamecano are doubtful for this game due to minor injuries. Meanwhile, Corentin Tolisso is back in training with the first team. It remains to be seen whether he features on Saturday. Robert Lewandowski is also available for the game against Mainz despite missing a few training sessions this week.

Predicted Starting XI-

Manuel Neuer is eager to play every game, but Nagelsmann may end up giving Sven Ulreich an opportunity to start on Sunday. With Upamecano doubtful, Die Roten may go with the center-back pairing of Niklas Sule and Tanguy Nianzou. Lucas Hernandez will get a breather after playing so many games in the past few weeks.

Alphonso Davies is likely to keep his place in the back four. The Canadian left-back had a frustrating second half of the season due to illness. He will be looking to end the season strongly, starting with the game against Mainz. Josip Stanisic will get the chance to impress in the right-back position on Saturday.

In the midfield department, Joshua Kimmich may finally get some rest. Leon Goretzka will occupy the deeper midfield role, while Marcel Sabitzer will get a rare start in the center of the park. After a difficult debut season in Bavaria, Sabitzer will be looking to end the campaign strongly.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be given a start on Saturday, so he is likely to operate in the number ten/second striker role. Serge Gnabry will occupy the right flank, while Jamal Musiala will be the left-sided forward on Saturday. Robert Lewandowski will lead the line for the visitors on Saturday.
