Bayern Munich want to sign another RB Leipzig midfielder
The upcoming summer transfer window could see multiple new faces in the midfield department at Bayern Munich. The German club is currently in talks with Ajax to sign Ryan Gravenberch. Along with the young Dutch midfielder, Die Roten could make a move for a midfielder from RB Leipzig.
According to Kicker (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern is interested in Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer. The Bavarian club will face competition from Liverpool and Manchester United for the signature of the Austrian midfielder. Laimer has been a key player for Leipzig over the last few seasons.
Leipzig could be forced to listen to offers for Laimer as he is entering the final year of his contract. They will be hoping that Laimer moves abroad instead of joining Die Roten. Leipzig will be keen on not losing another player to Die Roten after Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer moved to Bavaria in the last summer transfer window. Rekordmeister also managed to get Leipzig’s head coach last summer.
Laimer can operate as a number six and eight in different midfield setups. The Austrian midfielder has a good passing range along with having a great work rate. He can add more quality to the midfield department at Die Roten.

The Austrian midfielder’s potential arrival can help Die Roten manage the workload of Joshua Kimmich. Marc Roca can also play the number six role, but he has not been trusted enough by Nagelsmann. The Spaniard is expected to leave in the summer, which may open up a space for the signing of Laimer.
Apart from his qualities on and off the ball, Laimer is also accustomed to the playing style of Nagelsmann. The 24-year-old midfielder may need very less time to adapt in Bavaria since he has been playing in the Bundesliga since 2017.

Along with Roca, Corentin Tolisso will also leave Bavaria at the end of the window. The French midfielder’s current deal runs out in June, and Die Roten has decided against extending his contract. Unfortunately, he may not get a chance to play for Bayern again as he is likely to miss the remaining games of the season due to injury.
It remains to be seen how concrete is Rekordmeister’s interest in Laimer. As things stand, Ryan Gravenberch looks destined to join Die Roten. The Dutch midfielder will replace Tolisso in the squad. Die Roten has often lacked depth in the midfield department throughout this season. The fringe players have not been trusted by Nagelsmann, so it is not a surprise to see the club actively looking to sign new midfielders.
