It has been a poor week for Bayern Munich on and off the pitch. The Bavarian club was knocked out of the Champions League after Villarreal scored a late equalizer at Allianz Arena on Tuesday to win the tie 2-1 on aggregate. For the second season in a row, Rekordmeister exited the European competition in the quarter-final.

Apart from the disappointment of Champions League elimination, there have been severe doubts raised over the future of Die Roten’s star striker Robert Lewandowski. Multiple reports across Europe have confirmed that the Polish striker is open to joining FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The latest report from SportBild reveals Lewandowski’s demands for staying in Bavaria. According to the German media outlet, the Poland international is looking for a three-year deal instead of a two-year contract. Lewandowski also wants to earn €30 million/year, which is significantly higher than his current wages- €24 million/year.

Before the game against Villarreal, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn dismissed speculation surrounding Lewandowski. The former German goalkeeper assured that the Polish striker would definitely play in the Bavarian colours next season. However, he did not give an update on the contract talks with Robert Lewandowski.

On Wednesday, RMC in France also confirmed that Lewandowski wants to leave Bavaria in the summer transfer window. The French media outlet insists that the Polish striker is upset with the lack of consideration from the club. The Bavarian club has been deliberating on opening contract talks with the prolific goal scorer.

The German club doesn’t enjoy a good relationship with Lewandowski’s agent- Pini Zahavi. They failed to reach an agreement with Zahavi last season for the contract renewal of David Alaba. With the Bavarian club yet to start negotiations for a new deal, Zahavi has reportedly held discussions with Barcelona president for the transfer of Lewandowski.

Bayern will not make a transfer easy for Lewandowski. Despite his age and the short length of his deal, Rekordmeister will reportedly ask for a monumental fee for the Polish striker. The speculation around Lewandowski’s future will keep on increasing if Die Roten doesn’t start negotiations with him.

Robert Lewandowski will be currently hurt by his and Die Roten’s performance against Villarreal. He scored the important goal on Tuesday against Villarreal, but the Spanish side kept him quiet for the majority of the tie. The Polish striker will now look to seal the Bundesliga title with Die Roten and decide about his future.
