Almost every season in the past five years, Bayern Munich has endured injuries at the business end of the campaign. The Bavarian club has been without some of the key players for crucial knockout games in the Champions League.
Robert Lewandowski had missed both games against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final of the Champions League last year. The Polish striker is completely fit this year, but Rekordmeister is set to be without Corentin Tolisso for the rest of the campaign.
According to Kicker, Tolisso’s season is likely to end on the sidelines after he suffered a hamstring injury against Freiburg at the start of April. The French midfielder will need three to four weeks to completely recover from this injury, which leads to doubts about him playing a competitive game again this season.
It will be an unfortunate way to end Tolisso’s time in Bavaria. The French midfielder is set to leave the club in the summer on a free transfer. Bayern had confirmed contract talks with the midfielder. However, there has been no positive update on the negotiations, so it is looking certain with every passing day that Tolisso will be playing at another club from next season.
There has never been any doubt about the quality of Tolisso. He is a very good box-to-box midfielder that has the knack for scoring big goals. However, availability has been the biggest concern about the French international.
The cruciate ligament injury at the start of the 2018/19 season was the biggest turning point in Tolisso’s time at Bayern. He has consistently suffered muscle injuries since his second season in Bavaria. It would have been a big financial gamble for Rekordmeister to hand him a new long-term deal.
Corentin Tolisso also needs a move to get more playing time at this point in his career. He is entering the peak years of his career, so a good transfer in the summer window will benefit him in the long run. Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus have been linked with a move for Tolisso in the past. Since he will be available on a free transfer, multiple top clubs will show interest in him.

Despite the report from Kicker, Corentin Tolisso will be hoping to get a chance to play one last time in the Bavarian colours this season. The final home game against VfB Stuttgart on May 9 will be too soon for him, so Tolisso will be hoping that his recovery is slightly faster and he can feature in the final league game of the season against Wolfsburg on May 14. If Bayern goes all the way in the Champions League, then Tolisso may get a chance to play the final.
