The developments regarding various transfer targets have made sure that Bayern Munich may have to decide against signing a center-back in the summer. The Bavarian club is reportedly looking at internal solutions to replace Niklas Sule, who is set to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Benjamin Pavard is expected to play more regularly in the central defense. The French defender has preferred playing in the heart of the defense. However, the lack of options in the right-back positions ensured that Pavard was deployed as a full-back. With the arrival of a new right-back in the summer, Pavard is likely to get more opportunities in his favoured positions.

According to Bild (via 90 Min), Bayern is also eager to keep Tanguy Nianzou beyond the current season. The French defender was expected to go out on loan, but the departure of Sule will open up more opportunities for him from next season.

Nianzou struggled with injuries during his debut season. Things have not significantly improved in the second season as the arrival of Dayot Upamecano added more competition in the heart of the defense. He will get more chances to show his talent next season as he will be one of the four options for the two places in the starting XI.

Die Roten was rocked by the decision from Niklas Sule at the start of 2022. The German defender decided to reject the new contract offer and join Borussia Dortmund in the summer. The Bavarian club left it too late to open talks with Sule, which eventually contributed to his decision to look for a new adventure.

Rekordmeister had reportedly prepared a list of center-backs to replace Sule. Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen was identified as the top target to replace Sule. However, the Danish center-back has opted to join Barcelona instead of returning to the Bundesliga.

Christensen was an ideal target for the summer since his deal at Chelsea was coming to an end in June. His teammate Antonio Rudiger was also linked with a move to Bayern, but his wage demands scuppered a possible transfer. Matthias Ginter from Borussia Monchengladbach has also featured on the list of transfer targets, but Die Roten is not entirely convinced about him.

The list of center-back targets is wilting down with every passing week, so Rekordmeister will be better served by sticking with the current group of center-back. It is a golden opportunity for Nianzou to fulfill his talent at the top level and get consistent playing time for Bayern.
