The best striker in the world has been playing for Bayern Munich for the last three seasons. Robert Lewandowski has been smashing records across all competitions in the last few campaigns. He managed to break the long-standing record of Gerd Muller for most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.

Along with setting various goalscoring records, Lewandowski has also enjoyed collective success in Bavaria. The Polish striker played a vital role in the Champions League victory during the 2019/20 campaign, scoring 15 goals throughout the competition against some of the top clubs in Europe.

The Polish striker has continued his outstanding goalscoring form this season. He currently has 45 goals across all competitions. Lewandowski has a good chance of scoring more than 40 goals in the Bundesliga for the second season in a row.

At the age of 33, Robert Lewandowski is showing incredible consistency for club and country. While talking to media this week (via Presse Augsburg), Lewandowski admitted that he is currently in the peak of his career. The Polish striker is expecting goals to keep flowing for him as he is enjoying a great fitness regime.

"“I think so. Every year things are going better for me than the year before. If I’m maybe at my peak at 33, then things can go on for a few more years.”“The change in diet and the exercise program that I started with my wife back then is now bearing fruit. Patience has paid off and we are now getting the reward. Hopefully for a while longer.”"

The Polish striker has shown incredible fitness levels in the past three seasons. Apart from a small spell on side-lines last year, Lewandowski has played most of the games. His work rate has been second to none, and he has become a much more complete striker. Considering his immense fitness levels, Lewandowski can play at the top level for at least four years.

Lewandowski’s individual and collective achievements have been honoured with numerous awards. He managed to win FIFA’s Player of the year award for two consecutive. The Polish striker is unfortunate to not have a Ballon d’Or to his name due to various reasons. A strong end to the season with Die Roten will make his case stronger for the prestigious award this year.

The Bavarian club also needs to take decisive steps to secure the future of such an extraordinary striker. Die Roten has publicly insisted that they want the Polish striker to retire in Bavaria. However, the praise has not translated into contract talks. His current deal expires in 2023, but he has been waiting for the club to extend his contract.

Robert Lewandowski has not ruled out staying in Bavaria for the rest of his career. However, the lack of decisiveness from the club hierarchy may force him to look for a new challenge in the summer. Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have been linked with Lewandowski until now. The next couple of months are crucial in terms of giving a clear indication of where the remaining of his peak years will be spent.
