The last few weeks have seen Bayern Munich working on two crucial deals to bolster the first team for next season. The Bavarian club wants Ajax duo Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch in the first team next season to improve the right-back and midfield departments, respectively.

Gravenberch has already confirmed the interest of Bayern, and the midfielder is reportedly keen on moving to Bavaria. Meanwhile, the situation with Mazraoui is not as straightforward as the Dutch midfielder. The Moroccan full-back also has an offer from Barcelona.

Die Roten needs to wrap up a deal for Gravenberch to get the upper hand in the race for Mazraoui. While talking to Jijantes FC (via iMiaSanMia), Fabrizio Romano reported that Mino Raiola could push Mazraoui towards Bavaria if Gravenberch’s move to Bayern is completed quickly. Romano insisted that Mazraoui is currently inclining toward joining Barcelona.

The influential Raiola is the agent of Gravenberch and Mazraoui. The Dutch agent could be tempted to do a double deal with Die Roten if negotiations between the German club and Ajax are concluded soon. Bayern has made two offers for the Dutch midfielder until now, with the second offer close to Ajax’s evaluation. This deal is likely to be concluded before the end of the season unless other clubs join the race.

Romano’s information is slightly contradicted by the German reports. In the past week or so, the German media has insisted that Bayern is leading the race to sign Mazraoui after making a superior offer to Barcelona. The interested clubs will not have to negotiate with Ajax as Mazraoui’s contract expires in June.

Die Roten previously lost a battle for a right-back against Barcelona two years ago. The Bavarian club failed to sign Sergino Dest from Ajax in 2020 as the young right-back decided to join Barcelona. Rekordmeister will be hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself, and they finally get a good right-back from Ajax this summer.

Apart from Mazraoui, Bayern does have other options for the right-back position. Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence has been followed by the Bavarian club. The English full-back is likely to leave Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window. Dest is also likely to be available in the summer if Barcelona signs Mazraoui.

Meanwhile, Ajax head coach Erik Ten Hag told Sport1 that Gravenberch and Mazraoui have what it takes to succeed in the Bundesliga. The Dutch coach knows the nature of Bundesliga as he worked with the reserves team at Bayern a few years ago.
