In the 2020/21 season, young Jamal Musiala became the youngest player to debut for the Defending German Champions under Hansi Flick. The record was broken on Matchday 18 of 2021/22 of Bundesliga as young Paul Wanner made history by making his senior debut as a 75th-minute substitute for Marc Roca against Gladbach.

Wanner plays as an attacking midfielder most at home for the Bavarian club in key central areas, where he can drag a defender out of position or thread a pass. As a left-footer with a lean figure, he has outstanding close control and technique. He seems to glide effortlessly over the pitch and has an amazing presence of mind on the pitch with great ball control.

After his great performance, the youngster was rewarded with a fresh, long-term contract at the end of January 2022. Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has big hopes for the young prodigy after a promising start to his senior career. Wanner also made his debut with the U17 German National squad in August 2021 against Poland. While talking to the media this season (via Bundesliga), Salihamidzic also pointed out the excellent work done in the academy to nurture talents such as Wanner.

"“Paul has shown in training with the first team that he has the chance to develop in our team thanks to his talent. The fact that he has already been used in the Bundesliga at the age of 16 confirms not only his ability but also the excellent work being done at the FC Bayern Campus.”"
