After struggling to add more quality in the right-back position last summer, Bayern Munich is determined to finally sign one this year. The Bavarian club has been monitoring various full-backs in the past few months, but Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui does seem to be the top target in this position.
The Bavarian club has already made an offer for the Moroccan right-back after FC Barcelona looked favourites to sign him. According to Bild, Die Roten is in advanced negotiations with Mazraoui to complete a transfer even before the window opens in June.
Rekordmeister doesn’t need to negotiate with Ajax since Mazraoui’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the current campaign. As per Bild, Julian Nagelsmann has already spoken to Mazraoui in a bid to convince him to pick Bavaria over Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Mazraoui has been one of the most impressive full-backs in Europe this season. He has excelled on and off the ball, which makes him one of the most touted full-backs in Europe. Moreover, he is financially a very feasible option since his deal is coming to an end at Ajax.
Die Roten needs a right-back that can provide an edge in the final third. Benjamin Pavard has done a decent job in this role, but he doesn’t excel in the final third. Moreover, the French defender prefers playing in the heart of the defense. He may end up playing in the central defense consistently next season since Niklas Sule is leaving the club in the summer.
Mazraoui ticks almost every box for the type of right-back Bayern is looking for in the upcoming transfer window. His technical security on the ball will help Die Roten when they are building from the back. The Moroccan full-back can also come up with goals and assists at a good rate, which will help Die Roten to add a different dimension in the attack from the right side.

Die Roten will be looking to part ways with Bouna Sarr to make space for Mazraoui in the first-team squad. The Senegalese full-back is struggling for playing time in Bavaria, so he is expected to leave in the summer. Marseille is reportedly interested in bringing him back to the club, but there are other clubs also in the mix for him.
Apart from Mazraoui, Bayern is also working on the signing of Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax. The German club has tabled two offers for the Dutch midfielders as they come closer to Ajax’s evaluations. It is more than likely that both Ajax players will seal a move to Bayern before the end of the season.
