Bayern Munich should be patient with Omar Richards
The upcoming summer transfer window is set to witness numerous departures at Bayern Munich. Some players will be leaving on a free transfer, while few could be sold or sent out on loan for a season. The Bavarian club is lining up plans for the summer as we enter the final three months of the current campaign.
In the latest update from Sky Sports, it has been revealed that Die Roten will be looking to improve the options in defense during the summer transfer window. A replacement for Niklas Sule and a new right-back are the priority positions to address for Rekordmeister.
This report from Sky Sports also revealed that Bayern would allow Omar Richards to leave if a suitable offer arrives in the summer. The English left-back joined Die Roten last summer after his contract with Reading FC came to an end.
Richards has found it difficult to get consistent playing time at Die Roten as he gets used to new surroundings and demands of playing under Julian Nagelsmann. Richards has got a handful of appearances in the Bundesliga due to this adaptation process.
It will be a real shame and mistake from Rekordmeister if they decide to sell Richards. Apart from Davies, Omar Richards is the only other natural left-back in the senior team. Lucas Hernandez can also play in the left-back position, but his best position is in the heart of the defense.
Young players often take much longer to adapt to a new country and club. Richards has played a majority of his career in England, so he was bound to have a tricky debut season at Die Roten. After getting used to Nagelsmann’s philosophy, Richards will be able to contribute much more next season.
From a financial point of view, Rekordmeister will be able to make a profit on Omar Richards since they signed him as a free agent. However, they will have to add one more position to improve in the summer. The Bavarian club will be better served by sticking with Richards instead of investing in another left-back.
Richards has shown glimpses of his talent in 14 appearances for Die Roten this season. Since he is yet to enter the peak years of his career, Bayern can afford to give him one more season to prove himself in the Bavarian colours.

Meanwhile, Josip Stanisic is expected to go out on loan in the summer. The Croatian defender had a very good start to the season, but injuries and covid have halted his progress in the last three months. Stanisic will need to go out on loan next season since Rekordmeister will sign a new right-back.
