Bayern Munich not considering departure of Marcel Sabitzer
The last couple of months has been difficult for last summer’s recruits at Bayern Munich. After a strong start to the season, Dayot Upamecano is going through a poor run of form. Sven Ulreich also couldn’t make a significant impact in the absence of Manuel Neuer, while Marcel Sabitzer is struggling to establish himself as a key for Die Roten.
Sabitzer was expected to make an instant impact in Bavaria since he was accustomed to the philosophy of Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig. However, things have not gone as per plans for the club and versatile midfielder. Sabitzer has struggled to get a consistent run in the starting XI despite injuries to other midfielders.
The Austrian midfielder was recently linked with a transfer away from Bavaria, but Bayern is not considering an exit in the summer. According to Sport1, Die Roten is expecting more from Sabitzer, but the club is not thinking about parting ways with him in the summer transfer window.
Marcel Sabitzer has managed to get only 809 minutes in 21 appearances for Die Roten across all competitions. The former RB Leipzig midfielder is waiting to get the first goal/assist in the Bavarian colours, which sums up his disappointing tenure at Rekordmeister until now. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
While talking to Sport1, Julian Nagelsmann had encouraging words for Sabitzer. The German coach insisted that the 27-year-old midfielder is getting back to his best after a difficult season at Die Roten. Nagelsmann has consistently backed Sabitzer to eventually come good in Bavaria.
Marcel Sabitzer will be hoping that the period of settling in is over, and he can have a strong end to the season. When the Austrian eventually finds form, he can become a very valuable asset to the first team. His versatility can give Nagelsmann a lot of flexibility across different areas of the pitch.
Meanwhile, the report from Sport1 reveals that Die Roten is expecting Corentin Tolisso to leave in the summer transfer window. The defending Bundesliga champions had confirmed contract talks with the French midfielder, but there has been no resolution yet. As things stand, Tolisso will be available on a free transfer when the next transfer window opens.
Apart from Tolisso, Marc Roca’s future at Die Roten is uncertain. After performing well in the last few gameweeks of Hinrunde, Roca has found it difficult to get playing time in Ruckrunde. The return of Joshua Kimmich has limited game time for the Spanish midfielder. For the time being, Sabitzer is likely to stay, while Tolisso and Roca are more likely to make way for a new midfield signing in the summer.
