In the past few seasons, Bayern Munich has not enjoyed a lot of success from loan deals for their young players. However, they have managed to get it spot on with Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch striker has been enjoying a fine campaign with Anderlecht.

The Dutch forward’s performances in Belgium are not going unnoticed. According to French media outlet Jeunesfooteux, West Ham United is interested in signing Zirkzee from Bayern in the summer transfer window. The young forward will have only one year left on his deal when the window opens in July, so Rekordmeister may look to cash in. The London-based club will face competition from Anderlecht as the Belgian club is keen to sign him permanently.

Zirkzee remains hopeful about succeeding in Bavaria after a good loan spell at Anderlecht. He has managed 12 goals and six assists to his name at the Belgian club in 29 appearances. The Dutch forward is likely to finish the season with at least 20 goal contributions.

Despite having a strong loan spell, it will be difficult for Zirkzee to get consistent playing time in Bavaria. The Dutch forward will be competing with Robert Lewandowski for the number nine role. The Polish forward is currently the best striker in Europe, so Zirkzee will struggle to get sufficient playing time. Moreover, there is also strong competition for wide positions. He could end up staying only if Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting leaves in summer. The veteran forward has been attracting interest from Juventus.

Considering the financial constraints created by the pandemic, Bayern will be looking to raise funds for transfers. Zirkzee’s success at Anderlecht will help in getting them a good transfer fee in the summer. Rekordmeister will ideally hope for a bidding war for the young forward.

Zirzkee’s loan spell should be the blueprint for Rekordmeister when they try to send players out on loan in the summer. Getting the club right can benefit the club and players in meeting their sporting and financial goals. In an ideal scenario, Bayern soon signs a deal with another European club that will allow players from youth teams to get vital experience at the top level.

Bayern is yet to make a final decision regarding Zirkzee, but things will be clear about the Dutch forward’s future in the next couple of months. Bayern has a lot to decide regarding the number nine role before the end of the season. The Bavarian club is still assessing the future of Lewandowski, while there are consistent links with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
