The next transfer window could see numerous changes in the goalkeeping department at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club has some big decisions to make as Manuel Neuer is likely to sign a contract extension. The German international has hinted towards ending his career in Bavaria.

The contract extension of Neuer is likely to have ramifications on the future of other goalkeepers that are on the books of Die Roten. Christian Fruchtl is one such goalkeeper that has been in and around the first team without getting his big chance due to the quality of shot-stoppers in front of him.

According to Sport1, Fruchtl is likely to leave Bayern in the summer transfer window. The Bavarian club will be holding talks with interesting clubs in the coming weeks. Academy goalkeepers Johannes Schenk and Lukas Schneller are candidates to replace Fruchtl as the third goalkeeper in the first team.

Fruchtl has been rated highly by Die Roten over the years, but the presence of Neuer and a few setbacks have made it difficult for him to fulfill his potential in Bavaria. His loan spell at Nurnberg during the 2020/21 campaign turned out to be disastrous as he couldn’t get playing time.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper couldn’t go out on loan at the start of the ongoing season due to an injury. Fruchtl has found it difficult to get adequate playing time at Die Roten. He needs to start afresh at another club to continue his development. It will be interesting to see if Rekordmeister keeps a buyback option in his deal.

Apart from Fruchtl, Sven Ulreich could also be on the move in the summer. The veteran German goalkeeper wants to stay beyond his current deal, which expires at the end of the season. However, the Bavarian club is yet to open talks with him for a contract extension.

Meanwhile, Alexander Nubel is not keen on terminating his loan spell at Monaco and hopes to play in Ligue 1 during the next season. Nubel is likely to look for a permanent move away from Bavaria when Neuer signs a new deal. Die Roten wants to keep Nubel since they believe that he will be the long-term successor of Neuer, but the 25-year-old goalkeeper needs adequate playing time to stay in Bavaria.

The early predictions for the summer window will be Die Roten extending Ulreich’s deal by a year. They will assess Nubel’s situation when he returns from Monaco in 2023. Neuer will definitely sign a contract extension until 2025. Meanwhile, Fruchtl will get a permanent move to a second or first division club in Germany.
