Bayern Munich concludes their February Bundesliga schedule against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Having recovered from their loss to VfL Bochum with an emphatic win over Greuther Furth last Sunday, Bayern will be looking to end the month with another victory. However, it may prove to be a difficult fixture as Frankfurt has defeated Bayern in the last two meetings between the two Bundesliga clubs. Here are five things to watch for ahead of Saturday’s match.

A difficult period of the schedule

Bayern’s next five Bundesliga fixtures may prove to be one of the most difficult periods of the schedule of the current season. After facing Frankfurt, a club that has already defeated Bayern this season, the next four matches will be against clubs currently in the top half of the table which includes Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim, Union Berlin, and Freiburg. Bayern only has a six-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund in the table and another loss to Frankfurt could make things even more interesting in the title race with more difficult fixtures on the horizon.

Robert Lewandowski is in fantastic form

Lewandowski is getting closer to another 40+ goal season in the Bundesliga. The striker has scored five goals in his last three appearances to increase his season goal tally to 28 goals in the German top division. A two-goal performance on Saturday would give him his fifth season of 30 goals or more scored in his Bundesliga career.

Frankfurt looking to end losing streak at home

Frankfurt has lost three consecutive home matches. Defeats to Borussia Dortmund, Arminia Bielefeld, and Wolfsburg have seen their home record fall to 3-4-4 with 13 of their 31 points in the league thus far being recorded at home. Another home defeat could see them fall further behind in the race for the European competition places.

First-half goals conceded

In their last four matches in all competitions, seven of the eight goals Bayern has conceded have been scored in the first half. It will be interesting to see if Bayern is able to prevent Frankfurt from scoring a first-half goal and potentially having to mount another comeback in order to achieve a victory or a draw.

Nearing 100 goals scored in the Bundesliga

Bayern is nearing the 100 goals scored mark in the Bundesliga. They will enter Saturday’s match with 74 goals recorded in the league. They are almost exactly three-quarters of the way to the 100 goal mark and can move past 75 goals scored with a multi-goal performance against Frankfurt. It continues to look like it will be a massive number of goals Bayern records by the time the end of the season is reached.
