Over the years, Bayern Munich has been often lauded for their effective transfer policy. The Bavarian club doesn’t have big budgets like Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, but they have managed to remain competitive by being aggressive and efficient with transfers. Moreover, they have managed to keep hold of their stars despite interest from other big clubs.

With the finances taking a massive hit in the past couple of years due to the pandemic, there has been less spending by various clubs across Europe. Bayern has also been very conservative when it comes to transfers due to the impact of the pandemic. The Bavarian club suffered losses worth €150 million due to covid.

Along with the impact of COVID, the English clubs are getting richer due to more lucrative broadcast deals. The state-backed clubs will continue to spend big in the future. In such a scenario, Die Roten will have to adapt and rethink the transfer strategy. It does look like the Bavarian club has decided to change their stance on selling players.

According to Kicker, Bayern is thinking about not sticking to the idea of being a club that doesn’t sell players. This report insists that Die Roten will be open to selling key players for big release clauses in the future for big money and accordingly invest to get players in the age group of 20-22.

It will be a fine approach as Die Roten has lately lost senior players for nothing or a very small fee. Some players may end up playing for a long time at the club, but the Bavarian club will be able to keep order in the wage structure by adopting this strategy.

Rekordmeister may not straightaway implement this strategy with the current squad since there have been numerous contract renewals in the last 12 months. Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, and Kingsley Coman have already signed new deals, while Serge Gnabry is also negotiating with the club for a new deal.

The upcoming summer transfer window will be intriguing since Die Roten has multiple areas to address. Rekordmeister may have to look at young players and cheaper alternatives since there will be no big transfer budget to spend.

The report from Kicker also confirms that Die Roten is looking to sign cooperation deals with clubs in Belgium and Austria. These agreements will allow youth players from Bayern to go out on loan to these clubs and get experience at the top level.
