The confirmation of Niklas Sule leaving Bayern Munich to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer has sparked a lot of speculation. The Bavarian club is assessing the situation to find an appropriate replacement for the German international.

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has been reported as the prime transfer target for Rekordmeister. Talks with Chelsea over a new deal have stalled, so as things stand, Christensen will be a free agent in the summer. Die Roten has intensified efforts to sign him, but it remains to be seen if the club agrees to the Danish defender’s wage demands.

Along with holding talks with Christensen, Bayern is also exploring alternatives for the center-back position. According to Sport1, Torino’s Gleison Bremer is one of the alternatives for the defending Champions. The Bavarian club is weighing up a move for the Brazilian defender.

The report from Sport1 also insists that Die Roten has been following Bremer for quite some time. The German club has already touched base with the player’s agent. The Brazilian defender will be considered as one of the cheaper alternatives since his wage demands will be much lesser than Christensen. However, he will command a transfer fee since his contract at Torino comes to an end in 2024.

Previously, a report in Italy has suggested that Bremer has been generating interest from Rekordmeister. The Brazilian defender has been a consistent performer for Torino ever since arriving from Atletico Mineiro in 2018. Torino will be forced to cash in during the next transfer window unless he agrees to contract renewal.

This process of looking at alternatives is normal for Die Roten. They are probably laying down the groundwork for all possible outcomes from talks with Christensen. The next few months will give a clear idea about the player that will replace Sule since Rekordmeister likes to line up deals before the start of the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Kicker (via iMiaSanMia) is reporting that Bayern wants a leader at the back to provide the right balance with the likes of Lucas Hernandez and Dayot Upamecano. The Bavarian club has lately struggled to keep clean sheets due to poor organisation at the back. An astute leader or a calming defender that can command the backline will definitely help the current squad.

Apart from a center-back, the current squad desperately needs an attacking right-back. The need for an attacking full-back has been magnified in the absence of Alphonso Davies. It will be interesting to see how Die Roten addresses these two positions along with adding more quality in the midfield during the summer transfer window.
