The Champions League football returns on Tuesday with blockbuster clashes in the round of 16. Bayern Munich will have to wait until Wednesday to resume the prestigious European competition. The defending Bundesliga champions will be travelling away to Austria for the first leg against Red Bull Salzburg.

Die Roten delivered solid performances during the group stages to win all six games and win their group. However, the form of group stages goes out of the window when it comes to knockout rounds. The German club will have to be at their best to get a positive result in Austria on Wednesday.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team was given a wake-up call on Saturday by VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga. The Bavarian club has not been up to the mark in the defense during the past few weeks. Bochum managed to capitalize on this problem and score four goals in the first half to clinch a memorable 4-2 win.

It will be interesting to see how Bayern responds after Saturday’s poor performance in the Bundesliga. Nagelsmann may have to rethink his starting XI and approach after the defeat against Bochum. Let us look at the possible starting XI for Rekordmeister for the first leg against RB Salzburg on Wednesday.
