Bayern Munich ready to extend contract of Alexander Nubel
As soon as reports emerged in Germany about the possible contract renewal of Manuel Neuer, there had been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Alexander Nubel at Bayern Munich. The young German goalkeeper is expected to leave if Neuer signs a new contract renewal.
The latest update from Germany suggests that Die Roten is not yet ready to give up on Nubel just yet. According to Kicker, Bayern is ready to offer a contract extension to Nubel. The club is aware that Nubel and Neuer cannot feature in the same squad as both players want adequate playing time.
As per the report from Kicker, Die Roten is ready to send Nubel out on loan to a Champions League after extending his contract beyond 2025. Nubel is ready to come back to Bavaria, but he wants guaranteed playing time in DFB Pokal and Champions League. Since Manuel Neuer is eager to every game possible, returning to Bavaria right now is not a great option for Nubel.
Alexander Nubel had got assurances of adequate playing time during his first season, but Neuer ended up playing most of the games. The former Schalke goalkeeper eventually went out on a two-year loan to Monaco. Nubel reportedly prefers completing his loan spell at Monaco as he keeps getting consistent playing time in Ligue 1. However, Monaco is in danger of missing out on Champions League football for next season.
Kicker also reiterates that Tottenham Hotspur remains interested in signing Alexander Nubel from Die Roten. The German goalkeeper will not benefit from this move to Premier League since he will be deputy to Hugo Lloris in North London. Nubel needs to go to a top club where he will play regularly.
Neuer’s new deal is expected to be until 2025. By the time Neuer’s new deal ends, he will be 39. The next contract is likely to be his last deal at Die Roten. If Nubel continues to impress during his loan spell, then there is a good chance of him succeeding Neuer after 2025.
Meanwhile, Kicker also confirms that Sven Ulreich is eager to sign a new deal at Bayern. The German goalkeeper will have to deliver convincing performances in the next few weeks to get a new deal. Ulreich’s current deal is set to expire in June.
Die Roten suffered a setback in the Bundesliga last weekend as VfL Bochum smashed four goals past them. The Bavarian club needs to show quick improvement in defense to successfully defend the Bundesliga title and bring the Champions League title to Bavaria.
