Bayern Munich has not enjoyed a good success rate when it comes to loan deals in the past few seasons. On most occasions, players have failed to get consistent playing time. The less game time eventually stalls their development.
The Bavarian club did manage to get all boxes ticked for the loan transfer of Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch forward was left Die Roten to join Anderlecht on a season-long loan during the last summer transfer window. Zirkzee would have got very limited playing time in the first team at Bayern Munich, so he decided to go out on loan after having the pre-season training in Bavaria.
Zirkzee is currently smashing it for Anderlecht in the Belgian. The Dutch striker has ten goals and six assists to his name in 23 league games. He is likely to end up with 15 goals and ten assists by the end of the season. It is already a very successful loan spell, but achieving those numbers could definitely give the youngster a lot of confidence to compete at Die Roten.
Anderlecht is very much pleased with the deal for Zirkzee. According to Belgian outlet Sudinfo LaCapitale (via iMiaSanMia), Anderlecht is open to signing Zirkzee permanently in the summer. As things stand, Zirkzee will return to Bavaria at the end of the season. The Belgian club will be open to negotiating a deal with Die Roten for the teenager.
It will be difficult for Anderlecht to complete this transfer since Zirkzee is hopeful about the future at Bayern. The young Dutch striker made a very good impact for Rekordmeister during his debut season, but playing time dipped significantly in the second season. A strong loan spell will help Joshua Zirkzee to make a strong case for consistent playing time next season in Bavaria.
The only way Anderlecht can get this deal done next season is when Rekordmeister can’t promise Zirkzee adequate playing time. He is currently the third-choice striker in the first team behind Robert Lewandowski and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. If both senior strikers stay at Die Roten beyond this season, then Zirkzee will have to assess his options in the transfer window.
In an ideal scenario, Bayern will be hoping for a bidding war for Zirkzee in the summer window. His brilliant performances at Anderlecht will not go unnoticed. The Bavarian club will need funds for other signings, so getting a good fee from Zirkzee can definitely help them. They can secure themselves by inserting a buy-back or first refusal clause in his transfer.
For now, Joshua Zirkzee will be focussing on a strong end to the season with Anderlecht. The Bavarian club found the right environment for the Dutch striker to flourish. They should try to emulate such success with future loan deals.
