After a brief break in the last two weeks, Bayern Munich will resume Bundesliga action with a game against RB Leipzig at Allianz Arena. The Bavarian club will have key games across Bundesliga and Champions League until the next international break in March.

In the past few seasons, Die Roten has been unfortunate with injuries during this time of the season. The current campaign is no different as Rekordmeister will be without two key players for the important stretch of the campaign.

According to AZ, Alphonso Davies could be out until April. The Canadian full-back was diagnosed with myocarditis after testing positive for coronavirus at the end of the winter break. The Canadian winger will have to take as much time to recover completely since the condition is related to the heart.

While talking to the media before the game against RB Leipzig, Nagelsmann insisted that Davies’ healthy is the priority and refused to give a timeline for his return. The Canadian winger is definitely ruled out from the first knockout round of the Champions League against Red Bull Salzburg.

Along with Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka is also expected to miss games against Red Bull Salzburg. AZ is reporting that Goretzka is unlikely to complete the recovery process for his knee injury before the end of February.

Leon Goretzka has been troubled by a knee injury since mid-December. The German defender recently suffered a setback in the recovery from this injury. Goretzka will need more time to get rid of this knee injury and make a successful comeback in the team.

The German midfielder will be a big miss for Rekordmeister since he has formed a very formidable partnership with Joshua Kimmich in the center of the park. Meanwhile, Davies has been the key outlet for Die Roten on the left flank. Even though he is a left-back, the onus is on Davies to provide the width on the left when Leroy Sane occupies central areas.

Nagelsmann will be hoping that both players return to action for the last and crucial stretch of the season. For now, Corentin Tolisso will replace Goretzka in the lineup. The French midfielder has been in fine form, contributing goals from the central midfield. Rekordmeister is reportedly exploring a new deal for Tolisso as he delivers quality performances under Nagelsmann.

Meanwhile, Lucas Hernandez and Omar Richards will be options in the left-back position. Nagelsmann will also occasionally switch to three at the back and use a wide player in the left wing-back role. It is a tricky situation for Nagelsmann, but he has decent options to compensate for the absence of these two key players.
