There has been a considerable amount of improvement shown by Bayern Munich under Julian Nagelsmann. The collective performances of the team have progressively increased as the German coach got more time to instill his philosophy. Courtesy of good collective performances, Nagelsmann is on track to win his first Bundesliga title with Die Roten.
Along with improving collective performances, Nagelsmann also has the knack of enhancing the output of individual players. Leroy Sane has been the most improved player for Die Roten this season. The German winger has been one of the best wide players in Europe this season.
Sane did start the season poorly, which also saw the Bavarian faithful jeering him at Allianz Arena. However, Nagelsmann’s slight tweak in his role and position has done a world of good for Sane. The former Manchester City winger is currently one of the key players for Die Roten.
Leroy Sane struggled during his debut season in Bavaria. His numbers were not exactly poor, but they couldn’t do justice to his overall quality as a winger. While talking to Kicker over the weekend, Sane admitted that he is close to his best this season. The German winger also believes that his first season at Die Roten helped him to overcome the aftereffects of the recovery from an ACL injury.
"“I can say that I’ve arrived 100% at FC Bayern. Last season was a bit difficult with Corona and the effects of my ACL injury. It took me a season. But it helped me know my body – now I know what I need and what I must do. I’m fully fit.”"
After struggling for most of last season on the right flank, Nagelsmann moved Sane to the left and gave him license to occupy central areas. The German winger doesn’t hold the width on the left flank but creates dangerous chances for other forwards. Moreover, Sane is getting more opportunities to score in this role.
Sane has already managed to get 12 goals and 11 assists to his name this season. The German winger is on track to have a season of 40 goals and assists. Robert Lewandowski does the bulk of scoring for Die Roten, but Sane has also developed the knack of scoring crucial goals.
Leroy Sane will have a big role to play if Die Roten completes the league and Champions League double this season. The German winger is yet to win a CL title in his career, so he is eager to get things right this season and bring the sublime trophy back to Allianz Arena.
Sane’s immediate focus will be the clash against RB Leipzig on Saturday. The German winger has two goals and three assists to his name in the past four Bundesliga games. He will be hoping to maintain this good form in the final third on Saturday and help Rekordmeister to clinch victory in the big game against Leipzig.
