The next summer transfer window will see Bayern Munich explore the market for signing another center-back. The Bavarian club didn’t need another central defender until Niklas Sule decided against signing a new contract. Sule will be leaving Die Roten in the summer on a free transfer.

Bayern is looking at defenders that will be available on a free transfer in the summer. Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter is one of the defenders under consideration for Rekordmeister. However, the German international reportedly has different plans for his future.

According to Sport1, Ginter is planning a move away from Germany in the summer. Apart from Rekordmeister, Inter Milan is also interested in signing the German defender. Moreover, Sport1 has also suggested that Ginter is not exactly a priority option to fill the void left by Sule in the summer.

For now, Die Roten is prioritizing a move for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen. The Danish defender will be a free agent in the summer as contract talks stall with Chelsea. Christensen’s teammate Antonio Rudiger is another defender on Die Roten’s radar.

In case a move for both Chelsea defenders fails to materialise, Ginter could come back in the equation for Rekordmeister. Ginter still has some years left in his peak, so it will be a sensible signing for Die Roten if they decide to pursue in the summer. The German international also has an ample amount of Bundesliga experience under his belt, so he will need very little time to adapt if he moves to Bavaria.

From an economical point of view, Ginter will command much lower wages than Rudiger and Christensen. Unless some other European club quickly agrees to personal terms with Ginter, Die Roten will remain in the equation for a move in the summer.

There is also a slim possibility of Rekordmeister not signing a center-back to replace Sule. Benjamin Pavard will permanently move in central defense, and the Bavarian club will sign a new right-back in the summer. Pavard wants to play regularly in central defense, so it will be a win-win situation for all parties.

Meanwhile, Bayern has reportedly managed to arrange a loan move for one of their highly-rated central defender in the reserves. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bright Arrey-Mbi is set to join FC Koln from Die Roten on an 18-month loan deal. The youngster has trained with the senior team in Bavaria, but his development will be faster if he gets playing time at the senior level.
