It has been a significant week for Bayern Munich in terms of long-term squad building. They have finally got a confirmation about the plans of Niklas Sule. The German defender has rejected the contract offer on the table and plans to look for a move in the summer. Sule will not get Die Roten a transfer fee since his contract expires in June.

Sule’s decision was confirmed by Oliver Kahn in a press conference on Wednesday. Ever since confirmation from Kahn, there has been a lot of speculation about Die Roten’s plans to replace Sule. The next few months will see numerous center-backs linked with a move to Bavaria.

The Bavarian club is now linked with a Brazilian defender from Serie A. According to Tuttomercatoweb’s journalist Marco Conterio, Bayern is interested in Torino’s Gleison Bremer. The 24-year-old defender is also attracting a lot of interest from various top clubs in Serie A, such as AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus. Die Roten will also face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Gleison.

Gleison’s current deal at Torino comes to an end in 2023. The Italian club will ideally like a renewal for the defender, but a sale will become the concrete option if he decides against a contract extension. Courtesy of interest from numerous clubs, Torino can command a more than a decent fee for Gleison.

The Brazilian defender has been a regular member of the starting XI at Torino ever since arriving from Atletico Mineiro. He primarily plays on the right side of the defense and has a good success rate when it comes to winning individual duels. The Brazilian is likely to get better in the coming years as he enters the peak years of his career.

It will be a big surprise if Gleison will become a Bayern player in the summer. The chances of this transfer going through are slim since Die Roten will have to cough up a significant transfer fee for him. The defending Bundesliga champions wouldn’t like to spend money in a position where they have decent depth.

The German media has suggested that Rekordmeister is exploring signing a central defender that will be a free agent in the summer.  Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen has reportedly emerged as the top transfer target for Die Roten. The Danish midfielder is likely to hold talks with interested clubs as his contract at Chelsea comes to an end in June. Antonio Rudiger and Mattias Ginter are other defenders that are linked with a summer move to Bavaria on free transfers.

Meanwhile, there is no clarity about the next destination of Niklas Sule. The German international has been heavily linked with FC Barcelona, while there have been persistent links with a move to Premier League. The next few months will give a clear picture of Sule’s plans and Die Roten’s strategy to replace him.
