It has been a monumental week for Bayern Munich in terms of building a squad that can help them to enjoy long-term success. Die Roten finally managed to reach an agreement with Kingsley Coman regarding a new long-term deal. It is a significant piece of business from Rekordmeister, considering the importance of Coman in the current squad.

The Bavarian club found a breakthrough in talks with Coman earlier this week, and things escalated to an official announcement by Wednesday. The French winger will be staying in Bavaria at least until 2027, which is currently the longest contract for a player in the Bundesliga.

Die Roten was thinking about selling Coman next summer after reaching an impasse over contract talks in 2021. According to Sport1, Julian Nagelsmann has played a key role in getting contract talks with Coman over the line.

The report from Sport1 confirms that Nagelsmann has been internally pushing for a new contract for Coman. The German coach likes Coman’s qualities and wants to keep working with him at Die Roten. Nagelsmann’s wish has been eventually fulfilled by the club hierarchy by finding an agreement on Coman’s wage demands.

There is surely enough evidence to back this claim from Sport1. Coman expressed his happiness to work with Nagelsmann in the official statement after signing the new deal. The French winger heaped special praise on the German coach even though he has just worked six months with him.

Coman’s happiness to work with Nagelsmann is largely due to his good form under him. The French winger has been consistently delivering good performances for Rekordmeister this season. The next challenge for Nagelsmann will be to make Coman even more productive in the final third.

The contract renewal of Coman will make sure that Die Roten can distribute summer transfer funds to other positions instead of spending big money to find a replacement for him. Moreover, Coman will be spending the peak years of his career in Bavaria. He has shown tremendous improvement in the past couple of years, but there is still scope for significant improvement.

Another player that Nagelsmann has been pushing for contract renewal is Niklas Sule. The German defender is set to become a free agent in the summer, but Rekordmeister has opened contract talks with him just before the winter break. Nagelsmann will be hoping that talks with Sule also conclude in the same manner as they did with Coman.
