Ahead of the start of the winter transfer window, clubs across Europe have started making early moves. Bayern Munich will be soon completing the first transfer deal of January as soon as the window opens. However, this deal will be on the departures front instead of an arrival.
As it was earlier reported in Germany and France this week, Mickael Cuisance is set to leave Bavaria in the next few days. The latest update from Sky Sports is that Cuisance has decided to join Venezia FC. The French midfielder is already in Italy to complete medical checks to seal the transfer.
The transfer fee is minimal compared to what Die Roten had paid for him two years ago. Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that the transfer fee for Cuisance is somewhere between €3-4 million. CSKA Moscow was the other club in the race for signing Cuisance.
Cuisance could never kick on after sealing a big move to Die Roten from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2019. The French midfielder struggled to impress Hansi Flick and get regular playing time during his debut season.
After a frustrating spell in his first season with Rekordmeister, Cuisance was eager to find more playing time during the 2020/21 campaign. Moreover, there were suggestions in the media that the French midfielder doesn’t have the right attitude in training. The 22-year-old midfielder had agreed to join Leeds United, but the transfer collapsed at the last hurdle due to medical issues.
Cuisance had no immediate future at Die Roten under Flick, so he was loaned out to Marseille in 2020. The French midfielder couldn’t make a great impression during the loan spell in Ligue 1, which made sure that Marseille didn’t sign him permanently.
During the last summer transfer window, Cuisance was linked with numerous clubs, but a permanent transfer never materialised. He decided to stay in Bavaria and fight for more playing time. However, Julian Nagelsmann often left out him of the matchday squad due to the quality of depth in the midfield department.
Cuisance has shown glimpses of his talent during his time in Bavaria, but he never managed to force into the first-team plans. A move to Venezia provides him the opportunity to get back to his best and eventually get a big move later in his career. Meanwhile, Rekordmeister needs to improve their record when it comes to signing the young midfielder. After failing to get the best out of Renato Sanches, Bayern couldn’t get the tune out of his replacement.
