No changes in midfield for Bayern

The midfield department of the Bayern squad continues to be thin due to injuries and other problems. Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso have been ruled out for the clash against Wolfsburg. Meanwhile, Joshua Kimmich is expected to start training on the pitch on January 2 as he continues recovery from COVID-19.

Marcel Sabitzer will be back in the squad on Friday. However, the Austrian midfielder is not fit to start, so he is likely to get a few minutes in the second half. In such a scenario, Nagelsmann will stick with the midfield combination of Marc Roca and Jamal Musiala. Both players did a fine job against Stuttgart, so Nagelsmann will be hoping for a repeat of those performances against Wolfsburg.

Kingsley Coman has been ruled out for ten days after suffering a muscle injury against Stuttgart. The French winger’s absence will mean Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry will start on the flanks against Wolfsburg. Sane will play on the left, while Gnabry will provide width on the right flank.

Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski have enjoyed a productive year with Die Roten. The attacking duo will be hoping to end 2021 strongly by contributing to goals and assists against Wolfsburg. Muller will play the number ten role, while Lewandowski will lead the attack on Friday.
