The final away match of 2021 for Bayern Munich will see them travel to Stuttgart. Die Roten have won their last three Bundesliga matches and they will be looking to continue their winning ways as the first half of the season nears its end. Tuesday’s match could prove to be a challenge as Bayern play their third match in just a span of seven days. Here are five things to watch for as Bayern faces Stuttgart.

Plenty of opportunities for Bayern?

Stuttgart will enter this match having allowed on average the most shots per match in the Bundesliga. With 16.7 shots per match conceded by Stuttgart, Bayern should be able to generate plenty of shots in this fixture as they are the league leaders in this statistical category with 19.2 shots per game being recorded by Die Roten. Stuttgart’s struggles against Bayern at home

The last time Stuttgart was able to take at least a point away from a match against Bayern at home was in 2009 when it finished 0-0 between the two sides. Since then, Stuttgart has lost nine consecutive home matches to Bayern. They will certainly be looking to end this winless drought on Tuesday against Bayern and win for the first time in over a decade at home against the record champions. (Stats courtesy: fbref)

Bayern is closing in on 50 league goals scored

To date, Bayern has scored 47 goals in 15 Bundesliga matches this season. They are just three goals away from reaching the 50 goal mark which would better their goal total from last season’s first half-season total which was 49 goals after 17 matches played.

Another big week for Jamal Musiala and Kingsley Coman?

Last week both Musiala and Coman were instrumental in Bayern’s wins over Barcelona and Mainz. Musiala scored in both matches while Coman recorded an assist and goal. These two players should be heavily involved in the two matches to come this week and they will have the opportunity to end 2021 as two of the most in-form Bayern players.

Robert Lewandowski nearing 20 goals

Lewandowski will enter this match as the Bundesliga leader in goals scored with 16 being scored by the striker thus far. With two matches remaining before the halfway mark of the domestic season is reached, Lewandowski will need four goals in the final two matches of the year to be on pace for another 40 goal season in the German top-flight.

The Bayern striker has scored six goals in his last five appearances against Stuttgart. The last time these two clubs last met Lewandowski scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 win for Bayern. If he produces another multi-goal performance against Stuttgart then his quest for another 40+ goal season will get a boost.
