Over the past few years, Bayern Munich has made some very intriguing loan deals. The Bavarian club has decided against backup options in the transfer window whenever they have faltered to sign a first-choice transfer target. They settled for a stop-gap loan signing for a season before getting their man in the next summer transfer window.
The majority of loan deals for Rekordmeister in the past five years have been a success in their own way. These players managed to fill a crucial void in the squad and contribute to the collective success during their brief stay in Bavaria.
Ivan Perisic also had a similar loan spell at Die Roten. After the Bavarian club failed to sign Leroy Sane in 2019, Die Roten moved swiftly to secure loan deals for Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic. The Croatian winger arrived from Inter Milan on a 12-month loan deal. The experienced winger is now hoping for a return to Bavaria in 2022.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sempre Inter), Ivan Perisic is dreaming about a move to Bayern if he runs down his contract at Inter. Along with Die Roten, Premier League is another option that will be attractive for the Croatian winger if he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Perisic turned out to be a very successful loan signing in 2019. The Croatian winger played a vital role in the treble-winning campaign by contributing to 18 goals in 35 appearances (8 goals and 10 assists). Die Roten were eager to sign him permanently in the following summer, but they couldn’t meet Inter’s transfer fee demands.
The Croatian winger has enjoyed success at Inter after the loan spell in Bavaria. He contributed to nine goals in 32 Serie A games last season as Inter won their first league title after a decade. He is also enjoying consistent playing time under Simone Inzaghi this season. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)
Ivan Perisic is a very hardworking winger with a decent end product. He can be a valuable player for any top team in Europe. However, the only concern for Rekordmeister will be the age of Perisic. The Croatian will turn 33 by next summer, so signing him doesn’t make sense in the long term for Bayern.
The only way Rekordmeister can justify the transfer of Perisic is the departure of Kingsley Coman in the next summer transfer window. If Coman leaves, then Rekordmeister can bring in a young winger and experienced one in Perisic to bolster the squad. The next couple of months will be crucial as Inter will try to extend his contract. It will be interesting to see if Die Roten also has similar eagerness to complete this transfer.
