Even though the transfer window is closed, clubs continue to monitor the progress of transfer targets at all levels. Bayern Munich has been aggressively recruiting at the youth level to find gems that could eventually become part of the first team.

In the past few years, Die Roten has been looking at young talent from England to improve their youth teams. Jamal Musiala was signed by Die Roten from Chelsea in 2018. The youngster went on to establish himself in the first team and German National team in the last 18 months.

The success of Musiala is likely to force Rekordmeister to put more effort in identifying young talent in British football. The defending Bundesliga champions have reportedly identified another young attacking talent.

According to Daily Mail, Bayern is showing strong interest in West Brom’s young forward Reyes Cleary. This report insists that scouts from the Bavarian club were present during West Brom U-23’s game against Stoke City in October. Along with Die Roten, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, and Crystal Palace are also keenly following the progress of young forward.

Cleary has been averaging more than a goal per game in his age group this season. The prolific forward mainly operates as a number nine for West Brom’s youth teams. Since he is yet to sign a professional contract with West Brom, more clubs will be looking to sign him as the season progresses.

Die Roten will have to keep looking for quality in the attacking positions since there could be few big departures in the next four to five years. Bringing in top young talents now will help Rekordmeister to prepare for the time of transition.

The Bavarian club has been good at identifying top young talents in the last few years. The integration of Musiala and Alphonso Davies in the first team also shows that there are very sound plans for talented young players. However, the club still has a lot of work to do when it comes to finding loan moves for young players.

Meanwhile, there is a negative update in German media on the situation of Torben Rhein at Bayern. According to Spox, the young midfielder could soon leave the club as Nagelsmann is not convinced about him becoming part of the first-team squad. Rhein has also been struggling with the reserves team this season. If there is no improvement regarding his situation before next summer, then he may have to kickstart his career at some other club.
