Bayern Munich: Tanguy Kouassi attracting interest from St. Etienne
Even though the last few weeks have not been flawless for Bayern Munich, the German club went into the international break on a strong note. Die Roten clinched a crucial 2-1 victory against a resolute Freiburg side on Saturday to remain at the top of the Bundesliga table.
The international break will provide an opportunity for players to get a break from club football, while fringe players will keep working at Sabner Strasse in the next two weeks. This break will also see a lot of transfer speculation since the winter window is around the corner.
Tanguy Kouassi is likely to be one of the players in the current squad that will be linked with numerous clubs before the January transfer window. The French defender got his first competitive start of the season against Benfica last week. He has found game time difficult to come by as Julian Nagelsmann recently insisted that the former PSG defender needs to eradicate errors from this game.
Kouassi might get a chance to kickstart his development by moving back to Ligue 1. According to Foot Mercato (via FussballTransfers), the possible new consortium that is in the mix to buy St. Etienne wants to kick off a new era at the club with the signing of Kouassi.
St. Etienne will find it difficult to bring Kouassi from January. In the past few weeks, the line maintained by the player’s camp and Die Roten is that he will stay at the club for the entire campaign. The Frenchman may get more opportunities as the season progresses.
Since Rekordmeister is not exactly blessed with good fortune regarding injuries in crucial phases of the season over the years, keeping Kouassi as an option in defense is crucial. In the past, the French defender can also fill in the central midfield as he played as a defensive midfielder for PSG.
Kouassi will learn and grow as a player by training top-quality players week in week out, something he missed out on last season due to injuries. The French defender should consider a loan move next summer if Rekordmeister adds another center-back to the squad.
The French defender should try to make the most of the opportunities that he will get this season. In case he performs well, then him taking place of Niklas Sule in the current squad becomes a realistic idea. The German international is highly likely to leave Bavaria next summer on a free transfer. For now, St. Etienne may have to look for other options as Kouassi is unlikely to move to January.
