Bayern Munich receive boost in defense

Manuel Neuer has been left frustrated in the last three games across all competitions in terms of clean sheets. The German goalkeeper has delivered good individual performances, but he has been left exposed by the team defensively. Neuer will be hoping for better collective performance from his team on Saturday.

Nagelsmann has received a big fitness boost in the defense ahead of the clash against Freiburg. Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez had missed the game against Benfica due to minor injuries. Tanguy Nianzou got the rare opportunity to get a start for Die Roten in the absence of the other two center-backs.

Upamecano is likely to start in the heart of defense against Freiburg after good performances against Benfica. The French international will partner Niklas Sule in the heart of the defense. Sule has emerged as a key defender for Die Roten due to his consistent performances.

In the full-back positions, the selection for Nagelsmann is straightforward. Benjamin Pavard will slot in the right-back position, while Alphonso Davies will occupy the left side of the defense. The back four could also turn into a back three with Pavard tucking in as center-back with Davies operating as a wing-back.
